Description		Deep within the heart of the Chamra Vortex, a faint life sign flickers on a lonely Class-M world. When the away team touches down, the crew of the Enterprise finds Xurbam - a man living in primitive isolation, his only company a mysterious creature that never leaves his side. Xurbam's story is one of tragedy: a survivor of a pirate raid, stranded and desperate to return to his homeworld. Moved by his plight, the crew welcomes him aboard, but as the Enterprise leaves the nebula behind, the grateful refugee they met on the surface begins to slip away. Strange behavior turns into inexplicable hostility, and the ship’s corridors soon echo with the footsteps of a man who seems to change with every shadow. As a routine transport mission dissolves into a high-stakes manhunt through the decks of the Federation flagship, the crew must uncover the secret Xurbam is hiding before the body count rises. Their hunt leads to the silent ruins of a fallen civilization, where the truth of Xurbam’s identity - and the heavy burden he carries for his entire race - will force the crew to make a choice that defies every regulation in the book.

Mission Summary

Captain’s Log, Stardate 116772.8, Commodore Wilkan Targaryen recording.

What began as an uninspiring six-week mapping assignment in the Chamra Vortex has concluded in profound tragedy and heavy loss of life aboard the Enterprise.

Investigating a Class-M rogue planet inside the nebula, our runabout team retrieved an emaciated alien named Xurbam and his golden-furred creature, the A’shura. What appeared to be a routine rescue quickly became a nightmare. Xurbam was not merely a survivor, but an ancient Saltah’na biological prison transport housing dozens of violent, exiled criminal minds. The A’shura was his living cage.

When Xurbam’s mind fractured, he murdered Petty Officer Selou and several others, absorbing their memories and skills to hijack the runabouts Frost River and Monongahela River. To prevent catastrophic decompression in the shuttlebay, I was forced to open the bay doors and let him escape.

We tracked him to the dead Saltah’na home system. Refusing to simply execute him, Chief Randall and Doctor Kholin developed a harmonic Lexorin treatment to restore Xurbam’s original consciousness. The treatment succeeded, giving Xurbam a moment of absolute clarity. Horrified by the deaths he caused and realizing the criminals inside him could never be safely contained, Xurbam chose to end his own life.

He was not a monster, but the final victim of a cruel empire who chose self-sacrifice to protect the galaxy. We are now setting a course for Deep Space Nine, leaving behind a saved quadrant to mourn our fallen crewmates.
